Question:

Windows Vista Conversion to XP?

I recently tried networking a vista laptop to a XP-based wireless network, and it was a failure. If I got a Vista Laptop, would it be possible (and how would I go about) to downgrade the vista laptop to run the more favorable XP?

  1. it is possible to network vista with xp.  so don't let failure stop you.  It is only possible to downgrade certain versions of vista so be care full.

  2. It depends on your version of vista. Some versions allow you to downgrade easily, but you will most likely need to just boot from your xp cd and install over vista.

  3. You DO NOT need to downgrade:

Windows XP and VISTA can be configured to work together for network sharing.

Instead of using the XP workgroup name MSHome, change it to the default VISTA workgroup name WORKGROUP so that all computers on your network

subsequently belong to the same workgroup named:

    WORKGROUP.

  4. Just format the hard drive and install XP.

  5. you can't convert it all you can do is downgrade it but i don't recomend that, because microsoft is launching everything to be "vista compatible" so alot of the new stuff won't run properly on xp
