Windows Vista Ultimate (64MB) downgrading problems to Windows XP?

Question

I recently tried downgrading my vista to xp, before i tried this it gave me options (this is before logging on) to either go on an earlier version of windows, windows vista or recovery console. So i pressed recovery console (like an idiot) and now it wont log on. It just goes straight to the recovery console. I want to know how i can log back on to my computer instead of going straight to the recovery console. Any answers will be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

remove the power plug,open it upand take out the bios battery...give it 5 mins plug it back in,stick the battery back in and hope for the best...if that doesnt work,boot from cd and reinstall....

Have you tried booting from the CD again?
