Question:

Windows Vista Ultimate vs Other Operating Systems?

I recently down loaded Vista Ultimate on my computer and the sound drivers don't even work because their 64bit not 32bit. Well, I was thinking of going with Ubuntu Hardy Heron OS after seeing a clip on youtube. Can anyone tell me some advantages to this and what I would be missing if I make the switch (pros vs. cons). Is this worth doing?

  1. ubuntu is very good.  The problem with windows vista is that it has lots of known bugs, can get viruses, and needs lots of good hardware to work well, whereas ubuntu just WORKS!

  2. VISTA is the best so far

  3. If you install Ubuntu over Vista, you will lose the possibility to run any Windows software (you can emulate some through Wine, though you will have to launch everything through command prompt as far as I know, and not all programs work), you will have to find the Linux version of each driver, which can take time, and Ubuntu, like every version of Linux, operates differently than Windows, and if you don't know about KDE or Gnome yet, Ubuntu may be useless until you figure it out

Even though Ubuntu takes a while to learn, and will take a while to find drivers, once you figure it out, Ubuntu, along with other versions of Linux, is a very powerful operating system, and there is a lot you can do with it

I would say not to install Ubuntu OVER Vista, but to install Ubuntu NEXT TO Vista, so if you decide that Ubuntu is not the right operating system for you, you still have Vista to fall back on, Vista has a built-in multiboot option, that as soon as you install as secondary operating system, will allow you to choose wich one you want during boot, though since you are installing a version of Linux, you may need to edit boot.ini, also, this gives you a chance to get both working, then to see which one you like best

  4. vista is da best

by the way you must have spend so much money

ultimate vista is the most expensive os-x invented

  5. You could certainly do that, but there are not as many programs and drivers written for that language.
