Windows Vista glitches? ?

Just purchased a new HP laptop which was loaded with Windows Vista. Some complaints I have several weeks after my purchase, is that it boots me off if I close (x) one of the windows that are already open, for example 3-4 applications are open while on the internet, x one out and all close and reboot IE. In some cases I will be booted for no reason what-so-ever? Also, if you have the HP laptop I'm getting a key code problem where if I'm going to work with excel, it asks for the key code, I've typed it in, and continues to tell me that I have the wrong key code? It's also saying I have x amount of times to accomplish the key code or I'll be locked out?

  1. sounds like either you need to re-install vista or you need to search for a motherboard update on the net, as i had similar problems (on a desktop) and downloading a hardware update solved that... if none of them work then i guess you may have to talk to some people about getting a new keycode or just get a code of the net.

  2. Hi NB

The issues are not in Vista especially if you have an original copy. HP have many issues running software and what you are saying is software related and nothing to do with VISTA. As a matter of fact, Vista is almost crashproof if you compare it to Win XP

I would suggest re-installing your windows FROM THE WINDOWS ENVIRONMENT. This way, it will ask you if you want to overwrite the existing wnidows. Answer YES. It will not destroy any of your data whatsoever. Then , re-install your Excel and because you just rebuilt your 'Registry" and is a virgin, it should work perfectly and much much faster.
