I use my computer mainly for gaming and browsing the internet. I have a Celeron 2.00 GHz, 1 Gigs of ram and 128 MB graphics card. I have to choose between XP Professional with SP3 or Vista Home Basic with SP1 (with Vista Standard Theme, the one that looks like aero, but has no transparencies. Also no sidebar).

  1. go with vista cause its only guna get better with updates, xp won't

i have vista and its really good, its the most protected yet

  2. You should probably stick with Xp in this case. Vista works better with at least 2-4GB Ram and a 256MB graphics card. Running anything less than a dual-core with any version of Vista usually invites problems. Xp will work far better on your system, especially if you bump up the Ram to 2GB. Vista has the advantage of using DirectX 10 but the games that will eventually use it won't likely play very well on your current system. Either buy or build a new system specifically to run Vista.

  3. better use xp

vista is the latest but doesn't mean the better one...

i suggest you go with xp

  4. XP is better for your need...

  5. I would suggest you to go for Windows Vista. Windows Vista contains many changes and new features, including an updated graphical user interface and visual style dubbed Windows Aero, improved searching features, new multimedia creation tools such as Windows DVD Maker, and redesigned networking, audio, print, and display sub-systems.

Along with the technical features, the graphical user inteface of Windows Vista is also excellent. You would love working with Windows Vista.

    Thanks!

  6. xp sp2...

    i had a bad experience with sp3...

  7. I would stick with XP. You will notice a huge performance drop if you install Vista on that machine. I wouldn't do it unless it was nessasary,

  8. go with XP..its better than VISTA..

there are still bugs in VISTA..

XP is faster, more reliable and easy to use..

  9. XP Professional will be quite suitable for your needs.

If you decide to go with Vista, buy yourself some more RAM.

  10. XP won every benchmark that TomsHardware.com did on a PC with 3gig of DDR and a PIV 3.2GHz Dual core CPU. Vista requires more RAM and a faster CPU than XP just to show, forget about win or place. I would wait for the next Windows, most techs are.

    Cheers

  11. I would suggest windows xp pro sp3 for you, based on your requirements as well as the system configration. If it is vista it has to be ultimate or atleast home premium, home basic no good for games.
