Question:

Windows Vista playing up?

Ok so I turn my computer on and the automatic updates download something and then update and ask me to restart pc. I got 2 updates. The first was a Windows Defender definition update, and the second (which was optional) was a Realtek Audio update of some sort. So I installed these 2 updates and restarted the machine and when I log on it tells me the colour theme has been changed to "Vista Basic" and the taskbar is all weird. The quick launch things used to be grouped up into an arrow with a scroll sorta thing and opened windows now appear much smaller on it, as shown below.

And with two windows opened:

As you can see, the windows do not spread across the task bar.

How do I fix this minor annoying problem?

Windows Vista Home Basic if it helps..

  1. To actually get the dotted things, right click your taskbar and uncheck "Lock my taskbar". Now drag it all the way. When you're finished, you can lock it by doing the above actions, or you may leave it unlocked.

  2. there is a little dotted 3 line thing left click and drag it back the the left, make sure you drag the far left one.
