  1. Right-click on the taskbar and unselect "Lock the taskbar." A little column of dots (http://img376.imageshack.us/img376/5572/... will appear. Click the little column and drag it as far to the left as you want. You can adjust the size and position of both the quick launch and the open windows thing with them.

  2. I assume the max-width of the taskbar buttons in the Registry is set too low.

Press the shortcut Windows + R. Now type in "regedit" and press Enter.

Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowMetrics. On the right handside you should see something like MinWidth. Check if this Setting has the value -154 otherwise change it via double-click.

Hope this helped you solve the problem.

  3. It looks like you have maximised or enlarged the area given for the Quick Launch toolbar. You have also locked the toolbar.

To fix this right click on the Taskbar, uncheck Lock the Taskbar. Now little greyed areas will appear at the edges of the individual toolbars. Drag these to the right positions. Done.

  4. System restore works wonders.

  5. You probably unlocked the task bar and moved everything to the right somehow. Right click on the taskbar click unlock then you can move stuff to where you want it. then of course lock it again :)

And for a caution be very careful with tobias's approach. Changing stuff in the registry can cause instabilities in the operating system unless you know what your doing. I would suggest that as a last approach.

  6. Does it matter?
