Windows XP MCE and MPEG Hardware Encoder?

Question

If I were to purchase a tuner card such as the Hauppage PVR 150 or 250 and record TV via Windows MCE through the antennae connection, would the resulting recordings be in .ts streams or encoded MPEG format? If they are the former, what can I do to ensure they are always in MPEG format for future easy and fast conversion? Thanks.

Microsoft MCE always records in dvr-ms format. It is basically MPEG-2 with a Microsoft "wrapper".
