I have a Windows XP Pro edition and was browsing the registry and found a file called fffffffff. Anyone knows what this is? Should I delete this? Thanks.

  1. NEVER touch the registry unless you are sure what you are doing. Are you sure this refers to a file, the ffff could relate to a hexadecimal count and is very common on computers. One wrong change and you can have a trashed system.

  2. Uhm probably and most likely not. If you don't know what it is then don't mess with it. The registry is a pretty bad thing to mess up. If you want to clean and play with the registry then there are programs to do that. Eusing makes a pretty good free one that I use to get rid of problems and it has worked for me so far.

Now why the file is all F's is because it probably in hexadecimal. Base 16 numbering system while our normal is base 10. With base 16 being 1-F and base 10 being 1-10. Its probably not a problem leave it alone! If you are worried either get a regisrty cleaner/fixer or search the entry's name and see if you can find any info on it.

    Hope that helps!
