I am running Windows Xp Media Center edition. When booting up, there is a long delay (30-90 seconds) at the "Welcome" screen. After that has passed, my wallpaper displays but I need to wait another 1 or 2 minutes before the taskbar or icons show.I have a fast computer and plenty of ram.I disabled some services with msconfig months ago but the slow booting happened this week.I was desperate and edited the prefetch to 3 (i don't know if that harmed or hurt it).The newest change I can think of is that i installed a new HP printer. If there are any ideas, please help. Thanks a bunch to everyone in advance.I have a Media Center PC with dual boot with 1.5GB RAM, 2.8GHz Pentium D. The Start Up is slow.I have a similar problem. I used a software(boottimer.exe) to measure my boot speed. My boot time reach 130 secs. For me that is too long.I tried reinstalling my window xp. And the time needed to boot the window xp is just 25 secs! That solves my problem for a while. But after using it for a week the time increase to 90 secs. I just install 2 software after the reinstallion. Why does the windows xp took so long to boot??? As far as is know Windows only need +-30 secs to boot.Is there any software that can help me???
