Windows XP network LAN missing?

when i go to network connections all it has is one icon that says wireless network connection, i am wondering where my LAN went or how to get it back

  1. Enable it if it is disabled. Once enabled, right click on it and click "View available wireless networks". Locate your network and double click to connect.

    Secondly, if you are having problems with your ethernet card which is not showing up in network connections, see if it shows up in device manager (My Computer > Right click > Properties > Hardware tab > Device Manager)

    If you see an entry "ethernet controller" but has a yellow exclamation mark besides it, you may have to install its drivers. Download them from internet of look for them on the CD.
