  1. I second what Soccer Dave said.

  2. Download the free version of Superantispyware.  I use this program and will resolve your problem as this software finds nasty viruses and spyware and best of all does not conflict with your own antivirus.  http://www.superantispyware.com  Update and run and in depth scan.  Free you must update daily on a manual basis or purchase and get auto. updates.

  3. Download, install and run CCleaner  to clean up old temp files.

Restart your PC in safe mode with networking

Download, install and run a full scan with Malwarebytes

Run a full scan with Micro Trend House Call

After the scans, restart the PC and update your anti-virus, remember to only have one anti-virus installed on your PC

  5. here is a video that shows how to remove xp antivirus 2008. However there are different fake programs called windows antivirus, windows antivirus 2008 and so on. If you do a search with exact name on youtube, you will come across the correct removal video

  6. Try booting into safe mode and running the following software:

    Malwarebytes: http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

    SuperAntispyware: http://www.download.com/SUPERAntiSpyware...

    SmitFraudfix: http://siri.geekstogo.com/SmitfraudFix.p...

Once you have removed it install Avast Anti-Virus and Comodo Pro firewall, then switch to Firefox 3 if you are browsing with IE this will stop it returning. (links on my profile)

  7. I would format your hard drive and then re-install windows xp.
