Windows XP won't start, stays as black screen? :(?

Ok. My pc won't get passed the windows xp loading screen, it stays as a black screen.

At first, it started as a trojan and replaced my wallpaper to a "warning! your computer has been infected.. etc.." and it won't allow me to use the desktop tab on right click > properties > desktop. It also makes an error when I open notepad, it also won't allow me to defrag, check for errors any of my drives.

I already tried using safe mode and the directory services restore mode. But after that I have no idea what to do. I tried using my Avast, AVG, Ccleaner and downloaded other anti-virus programs, also anti-spywares. Those probably deleted the virus(some.. or maybe) I also downloaded RegCure, it found all the errors but it won't fix/clean it up until I pay for it. Only way I can access my pc now is through safe mode and the service restore mode, but now I really don't know what to do. I already searched tons of sites but I can't really find the answer. It would be best if the solution doesn't need me to have and reboot my windows. :(

or is there any program like RegCure for free but still effective?

Problems:

- Won't start up

- No access to display properties

- Probably still have the spyware/malwares.

- No idea where I got all of these. <_<

  1. First thing to do is turn off system restore as the virus hides in there.

    2. Run Adware remover and spybot search and destroy in safe mode

    3. while scanning make sure your also unplugged from the internet

    4. clean the infected items

    5. if that dont work try system settings that last worked option

    6. last option will be do system repair off a cd if you have one

  2. Sorry but the cheapest and easiest way IS to completely reformat your drive by reinstalling windows. (Doing a complete system restore)

If I read you post correctly, you've already tried to do a system restore. There are 2 different kinds. One is the kind where you just go back to a restore date that you know your PC was working properly. This is easiest, and doesnt cause you to lose everything. To do this, you'd have to go in safe mode... start>all programs>accessories>system tools>system restore and then follow the on screen instructions. Be sure to pick a date before you had troubles. If that doesnt work, then a complete system restore is needed. Some PCs had a hidden part on their hard drive that has this function.. you'll need to know what function key to hit to get there. With Dell desktops, its Ctrl + F12, with a dell laptop, its Ctrl + F11... Not sure what type of PC you have. it may not even have this partition on the hard drive. If not, then you'll need a disk with the same exact operating system you currently have on your pc to reformat/reinstall it.

    Good Luck!
