Windows Xp Networking Problem?

Hello , I have two computers Computer A , Computer B.

Now I want to connect both these computers by Lan Cards.

Computer A have the internet connection.

I want my Computer B to have internet facility through Computer A by Lan Card.

I have all the hardware like switches , routers , cables ,wires etc.

I have problem withh settings on Windows Xp.

Can anyone help me to or guide me regarding settings (configuration) so that I can connect both Computers A adn Computer B.

Both PCs have Windows XP.

  1. Cleanest way to do this is to install an inexpensive router.  Connect it to your internet  connection then connect the two pc's to the router.  Nice cean and you have an added layer if firewall serutity.  Linksys, dlink, belken etc all make good priducts.


  2. Well, you should use the switch to connect both the computer A and B, like the incoming Internet line to the switch (like first to Modem then to switch) and connect both computer on the switch. Now, open the "network connections" of the compurte A (on which the Internet is working) and go to "properties" of the "Local Area Connection" then select "Internet Protocol(TCP/IP)" then click on "properties" inside that you will see the addresses mentioned....Now, you need to set these address settings on the other computer except the ip address (the ip address should be different like (192.168.10.52) for computer A and (192.168.10. 55) for computer B. After configured these settings on both computers now check the Internet....!

  3. Make sure that both PC's have similer workgroup name and both PC's have different network IDs. Also set proper firewall settings.
