Windows disk boot error? ?

I recently got a windows xp disk, and took it to my friend's house to re-install windows. But when I booted from the disk drive (with the windows disk in it), I got this message: "DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT STSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER TO CONTINUE". No matter how many times I press enter, it would do nothing.

  1. press DEL

    enter setup

change to the first boot to CD

    save it

    insert winxp disk

    reopen your computer

    install xp

    wait....

  2. Sounds like there is something wrong with the disk.  You have two choices, you can go and try it on someone elses computer.  Or see if you can borrow another disk.  Good luck.

Just a note, I do not know why you are reinstalling windows, but are you sure its booting from the cd?  Not from your hardisk?  Go into the bios setup and make sure its set to boot from cd first.
