Windows live messenger taking ages to sign in and games not working

Question

My windows live messenger isnt working to well.I have version 8.1 and its taking ages to sign in,sometimes an error message appearing aswell.Then when i do get on it says at the top "due to a connection problem changes you make might not be applied to other computers" and also,when trying to play a game with a friend,it comes up saying the page cannot be displayed.I've uninstalled and reinstalled,help!

OK sign out.

If your computer is free of infection then I'd try deleting you cach etc..

Install and run ccleaner http://ccleaner.com and run the ccleaner scan and the registry scan. Remove/repair everything it detects and repeat the registry scan until nothing appears.

Reboot and try signing in again.
