ok i just had to install a new hard drive on my year old computer last week, before i installed it i made d**n sure i backed up all my files onto my external hard drive and thumb drive all went well with that. so after i reinstalled windows vista home basic on my new hard drive, my f*********** media player wont play dvds, i get a message saying that i need to adjust my display settings, and color settings. been there done that! didnt do a d**n thing. however it plays music and tv shows i recorded off the tv tuner i have in the computer and external hard drive with no problems, i downloaded VLC and it works great except it doesnt support my remote control. i called tech support and they said that i need to reinstall the operating system again!!! i dont think so!!!! since i can watch the dvds with VLC but i really prefer media player, so what do you guys think? i like to be able to enjoy a movie without having to get up to change the volume or choosing something off the menu with the freaking mouse. any tips or advice is greatly appreciated!

thanks
