Hey :)

I have windows live messenger ( the new one ) on my computer , but i also have windows messenger ( the old one ) on my computer...

The old windows messenger always signs me in automatically when i go onto my computer. There was a ticked box under tools and options and it said " automatically sign in when computer starts " and I unticked this box but it still continued to sign me in automatically.

If I delete Windows old messenger from my computer will that do the job? I know nothing about computers by the way :)

Please help me - it's getting on my nerves really badly..

Thanks.

  1. Yeah, should do. Best way to remove it is add/remove programs in your control panel. If you accidently delete old and new, you can always download the new one again.

  2. Yeah, make sure it's turned off and just delete it.

  3. Yea, uninstall Windows Messenger. Go on control panel > Add or remove programs > Click on windows messenger and you should be able to get rid of it. If Add or Remove programs isn't there when u open it, on the right hand side, click switch to classic view and then find it  =]

    Hope that helps

  4. yes remove the old windows messenger then all u will have left is the new one

  5. Yes remove it from your computer. To do this follow these instructions:

Start -> Control Panel -> Un-install program -> Windows live messager.

Once you've done this, find Windows live messager and download it. Once you've downloaded it run it as administrator.

Also if what you mean is that you've downloaded and install a newer version of Instant messaging then still have the older version of instant messaging that there is probly a conflict going on.

Most likly that is the case. So i recommand getting rid of the older version.

If you've gone and upgraded your PC to for example Vista and with that transferd all your data to Vista then yes old MSN will keep starting up, so basicly remove it completly from your computer.

P.S: i know some words in here are not spelled correctly, which really nobody is perfect!!!

    I hope this helped you!

  6. make sure that, when you have unticked that box, that you also click on apply, before you click on Okay.. a lot of times, if you don't do that, or, if your system freezes before you do a restart, it won't take.  sooo, do that and see if it helps..

  7. Just Uninstall the old one no1 really uses it now lol and u have the new 1 anyways =)

Go to control panel, programs, n then uninstall programs and you should find a list of all your programs and the old windows messenger and jus uninstall it =) x

  8. possibly may help but if not and u wanted the old one back u cud always download it by googling old msn
