  1. You can be miserable either way you choose, or you can try slowing down

I commute 52 miles round trip and stay 5 below the posted on blvds and ave and actually saved 4+ gallons a week..

  2. using the ac uses gas so i roll with the windows down,

and i live in the Hottest city in the US, HOUSTON, not even LA temperature can keep up with houstons

  3. Unfortunately chris2EM is correct.  Which sucks because that's the opposite of what you would want to do.I for one would urge you to not listen to the tree hugging dummies that publish **** just to make you believe stuff without any real proof.  They feed people enough misleading info so you should just do the research your self and find out what the real difference is between the different scenario's.  I think you will be surprised to find that while what you have been told here is correct, it will only make a dollar or two difference a tank and it's not really stressing over.  Just cut back a beer or two a week and you've made up the difference.

  4. windows rolled down probably because interrupts it aerodynamic path around the car

  5. Windows down increases fuel consumption as with the windows down the car is less aerodynamic, the air rushing in through the windows creates more drag...  And by the way, you think gas prices are high in the U.S?  It's $8.16 a gallon here in Ireland....

  6. Depends on the speed

If you're traveling at higher speeds, you should run the AC

If you're in stop and go, roll down the windows.

  7. For best MPG:

HWY speed - AC on and window up.

STREET speed - AC off and window down.

The BEST - AC OFF and window UP.

I was out today and was just going for a short drive. The above was kind of moot because it was so hot I could not drive with the AC off (which I normally prefer - regardless of cost).

    Good Luck...

  8. the Ac uses up more gas/coolant/and battery.
