Question:

Windows xp installation?

I have downloaded the windows xp ultimate edition by johnny but i failed to install it... when i click on the .exe icon... it says "to install, restart your computer from this disc" therefore i burnt it and then restart my machine but in vain... can anyone help me out? I would be grateful

  1. Check if your machine is configured as "First bootable device: CD-ROM / DVD-ROM"

    Next check if your installation disk is bootable or not. If both the settings are true i.e. First booting device: CD-ROM / DVD-ROM and Bootable Windows Disc, then there will be no problem in booting the system from the disc. until and unless your CD-ROM / DVD-ROM is defective.

  3. Grateful enough to buy an XP licence?

    Either you haven't set your computer to boot from CD, or else you didn't burn the CD as a bootable image.
