Windows xp password hack?

Question

I inherited my Mom's computer but she has everything passworded....even when I go into the bios it is passworded....any suggestions ???? ....Or do I just need to destroy it and forget about accessing it ??? Thanks for any help

There are ways to get around passwords but for each scenario its a different method.

For BIOS you can use a s***w driver and short bios reset jumper but I wouldn't recommend that you do that. Why would you want to hack into BIOS? There is no data there.

For Windows, if you have administrator privileges you can always reset any other administrator's password - or - you can use a password cracking software given that you have administrator privileges or you can get access to certain windows files. Also you can change file and folder permissions and ownership to access their content (again if you are also and administrator).

Lastly, You can perform a clean windows install if that is your concern.
