Windsor Castle park to act as camping site for London 2012 Olympic Games
The Queen of England has announced her intention of making the parkland that surrounds the Windsor Castle into a camping area for the visitors of the London 2012 Olympic Games.
The park area serves as a private hunting ground for the royalty of England but it will now serve to accommodate an approximate number of 1000 visitors who will come to the capital of England to witness the Olympic Games from July 27 to August 12. The sizable
number of people can be accommodated in the park as it covers an area that roughly equals to the size of 300 pitches.
The park once converted into a camping site will be looked over by The Camping and Caravanning Club whose spokesman Jon Dale, expressed himself in the following manner, “We are absolutely delighted. It’s a campsite right at the heart of British royalty.
It’s proving to be an extremely popular option. We only started taking bookings for it this week and the interest has already been phenomenal. It’s so close to Windsor Castle and it’s a cheaper alternative in terms of other accommodation. From where the campsite
is you can actually see the top of Windsor Castle.”
The campsite is not going to be a cost free alternative for the visitors in London as they will be charged an economical amount of £40 per night.
However, it is a compulsion that anyone opting to abide in the campsite will have to take the three night package at the very least. The campers will be given the facility to bring along their tents, caravans as well as motor homes in order to be comfortable
at the park.
Despite the fact that the Olympic Games will be taking place later on, the campsite will be made available to the visitors from July 20. In addition, they will also have the option of staying on the campsite after the end of the Games.
In order to keep the visitors entertained, the management of the park has taken it upon itself to present open-air theatre events.
