Windsor’s conditions in favour of Rafaaf in Ladbrokes Mobile Handicap (Div I)
There are plenty of fascinating sprinters on show, but Rafaaf undoubtedly makes the best appeal in the Ladbrokes Mobile Handicap (Div I) at Windsor on Monday, October 15, 2012. Yet, one should not forget that the 4-year-old is not the only one with plenty
in favour.
Parisian Pyramid, Jocasta Dawn and Cardinal, all made the shortlist at Windsor, where the going is soft. So, Rafaaf needs to come up with an outstanding effort to steal the show. Currently off a mark that should not prove beyond him, the Robert Eddery-trained
is aiming to record his second victory of the season here.
The spectators at Windsor last saw him in April, when the skilful runner sealed a comprehensive win in the Davisbakerycaribbean.com Handicap. The conditions were testing that day, but Rafaaf did not face any trouble whatsoever.
He settled in 10th at the start, and subsequently made progress on outer over 1f out. In the hands of Andrea Atzeni, he ran well to attain advantage inside the final furlong, and stayed on well to seize the first place by three quarters of a length.
The son of Royal Applause has been struggling since then. On his latest start earlier this month, the Oscar Stud-bred showed some improvement at Warwick. Owned by Aitken & Phillips, the bay gelding remained slightly unlucky, as he missed the podium only
by a neck’s distance.
It was surely a satisfying outcome for his fans. Rafaaf seems to have regained momentum following a decent show, thus one can expect him to produce a positive result on the surface, he likes a lot.
He is going to face 14 rivals in today’s class 4 meeting. On Windsor’s six furlongs, the participants will be searching a prize worth £4,205. The affair will be commenced at 15:35 GMT.
Parisian Pyramid is a dangerous fellow, but it is hard to trust him blindly. The new stable is trying a tongue-tie, and it will be interesting to see how he performs.
On the other hand, the conditions are massively in favour of Jocasta Dawn, who has registered a win here before. Cardinal is also one of the leading contenders. Robert Cowell’s charge won this race a couple of seasons ago.
