Windy City Collegiate Classic 2010 – all eyes on Round 3
The Windy City Collegiate Classic has moved to the third round on Monday at the Northmoor Country Club in Illinois. The field presented a tough competition between the Seahawks, UNCW women’s team, Iowa State, Boilermakers, Texas Tech, UNC Greensboro and
many more.
At ninth place, the UNCW women’s team ended their second round game with a classic 628. According to the current leader board statistics, the team lead is held by Purdue with a 15 over par. The two-time defending champion collected a total of 583 points
after R2. The total score was divided by their 290 and 293 in their first two rounds.
Iowa State is at the second spot, trailing the Boilermakers by two strokes. Iowa scored a total of 585 points with a 17 over par in their first two rounds. The team has carded a score of 298 in its first round and a score of 287 in the next one.
The third place is in the hands of the Texas Tech, who have carded a total of 595 points to their credit. The team collected scores of 299 and 296 in round one and two.
After the end of 36 holes, the Seahawks hold a 7 shot lead over their all-time rival UNC Greensboro. The Seahawks carded 315 and 313 in round number one and two respectively with their state-rival collecting 315 and then a 320 in the second.
The Head Coach of UNCW, Cindy Ho believes that the team played a good game. Ho said that their game at the second round afternoon was much better than the game in the morning. Regarding the golf course, the coach said that the course holds greens that are
firm and cannot be duplicated in North Carolina in anyway. The UNCW coach further said that the Donald Ross designed course affected their confidence because of which the team had some bad stretches of golf. The coach further explained that they have now played
the 36-hole course and hopefully would be able to perform a much better game in the next round.
Among those who shone on the individual front was Sofi Hagsund at 24th place with 12 over par. The junior scored a total of 154 after carding an 80 and a 74 in the two rounds. Lori Beth Adams is standing on spot number 45 with her score of 160
after carding 78 and 82. A four way deadlock is seen at the 47th place with Whitney Rhodes being one of the female golfers. The freshman has scored a 161 after carding an 81 and then an improved 80 in the second.
Laverry Kumar was disqualified from the second round after she signed an incorrect score card.
Round three of the Windy City Collegiate Classic is to be held on Tuesday which will further determine the leader board and its rankings. The R3 of this event is expected to finish with a dramatic end and has many fans anxious for the leader board to change.
