  1. Red wine vinegar substitutes:   balsamic vinegar OR apple cider vinegar

White wine vinegar substitute:  apple cider vinegar

  2. I have used apple vinegar and a red wine together for wine vinegar. I use this on my salads. It was great. I have also used balsamic vinegar as a replacement for wine vinegar.  I posted a site that shows how to make wine vinegar from wine and it has replacements. I bought the  Paul Newman wine vinegar  salad dressing and have tried making it myself. Take one part red wine and 3/4 part apple vinegar, add your seasoning of herbs to taste and you have a replacement dressing for wine vinegar. Tastes great and it costs little to make. I use rosemary thyme, black pepper, red pepper and crushed peppercorns in this dressing. You can play around with the herbs. I make it in a dressing bottle and use it out of the refrigerator. Tastes great. Try it , Tell me what you think as a replacement for wine vinegar
