  1. You could Try both...  See if you like it or not. Dojos  are affter too two things money for one and for a Student.

  2. Hmmm I'd pick krav maga even though I think my experience in Japanese jiu-jitsu and boxing cancels it out for me ,so on that basis I'd still chose wing chun to my list of martial art tools.

    Best wishes :)***

  3. I know what you asked but consider the following;

    Wing Chun could be a enjoyable lifetime adventure with benefits other than fighting, but any benefits will take a time to obtain. It has been around a long, long, time. Knowledge base is vast and overall it is a fighting system. If you want to expand your horizons and have time to spend this system is for you.

    Krav Maga is an eclectic collection of techniques for self defense. Not much longevity in this "system."  Never saw it 6 or 7 years ago, maybe here today and gone tomorrow. However if you only want to defend yourself for the here and now Krav maga may be for you.

  4. They both are, but it really depends on how hardcore you want to get: Wing Chun teaches mostly fighting techniques, but there are some seriously dangerous moves within it such as knee destructions, throat attacks, and arm breaks. Krav Maga is a more militaristic art that is less focused on hand to hand and encompasses all types of combat: grappling, knife, gun, etc. Krav Maga teaches a lot of scenario techniques as well, like what to do if you are choked from behind, stuff like that. In the advanced levels Krav Maga teches how to kill with your bare hands, but those are "black belt" level moves. i would personally recommend Wing Chun unless you live in a war-torn/terrorist plagued part of the world. Wing Chun is better for the regular streets of most countries, make sure you tell your instructor that you want to learn the street defense applications of Wing Chun so he knows what goals you what to get out of his class. They are both very good arts however.

    Happy Training!

  5. i prefer wing tsun but krav maga is more effecitve for the streets because thats what it is all about

  6. krav maga....this would be the one for the streets hen compared to Wing Chun.  Wing Chun is devastating in itself but I believe it to require a real understanding of its principles - meaning you would have to be very skilled at it to use it for street tactics.  I love that style for everything it is but I would still choose KM over it for the street.  Krav Maga as you may know was developed in real combat, for war, nothing else.  The pure KM is lethal. What they teach is good enough for the street though, it is a straight forward, common sense, get in -get out, destroy as quickly as possible, type of survival and self defense martial art.  Google a guy by the name of Moni Aizik if you want more info.

  7. Either. Krav tends to be a little more no-frills in its teaching approach, and does a bit of training with adrenaline flowing so you get used to being able to handle yourself despite it (something I understand Wing Chun doesn't necessarily do -- this will depend on the instructor).

    Personally, I like Krav when I was doing it. I may have moved away from it now, but it still influences my movement quite a bit.
