http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Florent-Malouda-c13838, revealed he wanted to extend his stay with the Blues, with hopes of ending his career at Stamford Bridge. The 30-year old has been hinted to be part of the players expected to be off-loaded during the summer, at the end of
the season, to make room for new, younger arrivals.
The Frenchman’s current contract is set to expire in 2013 and he admitted he was eager to extend it at least another year, until 2014.
However, according to rumours surrounding the departure of the senior players at the end of this campaign, that seems highly unlikely.
Malouda has been one of the best players for the Blues this season, apart from the mid-season slump, which saw almost all the squad’s form suffer. He is currently the Blues top goal scorer with 13 goals in the English Premier League season.
Striker, Didier Drogba, is a close second with 11 goals, while http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Salomon-Kalou-c32266 has found the back of the net nine times. The French winger has made 46 appearances this season and has scored 14 goals in all competitions.
Malouda revealed there was uncertainty surrounding his future at the club, he said while speaking to reporters, “I just want to feel I am important at the club. Sometimes I don't feel so when I see in the media that the club are thinking of selling me, and
I know I'm doing great”.
He is indeed doing great, scoring more than the strikers, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Torres-c13707, and, Salomon Kalou.
However, he has had problems with consistency this season, which may have convinced the management at the Bridge that there is no room for Malouda at the club next season.
However, the 30-year old winger is determined to remain with the club for a few more seasons. He revealed he wanted to be like Ryan Giggs, the 37-year old Manchester United midfielder, who seems to be showing no signs of slowing down, despite his age.
He continued, “I want to be the Ryan Giggs of Chelsea! I want to extend my contract by one year until 2014. The club have been saying that because I am over 30, I have to wait until the last year of my contract to speak about an extension”.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 international revealed he was waiting for the club to invite him to hold talks about his future, he said, “I am waiting for a signal from the club. I am much appreciated by the coach. But I need support from the club as well”.
Chelsea are yet to talk to Malouda about his future at the club and are reportedly waiting for the summer to decide on the players future. Like Malouda, Drogba is also waiting until the end of the season to discuss his contract.
