Winless New Orleans Saints face unfortunate Green Bay Packers – NFL Preview
After a dreadful conclusion to Week 3 game, Green Bay Packers are set for another game as they host winless New Orleans Saints for Week 4 game on Sunday, September 30, at Lambeau Field.
Packers (1-2) should have got their second win of the season in their last game, but for a controversial call from the replacement referees, who, thankfully, are not going to officiate any more games in the season.
The National Football League (NFL) has reached a tentative agreement with NFL Referees Association (NFLRA), ending the deadlock that prevented regular referees from taking the field for the first three weeks of the season.
It is important for Packers to let bygones be bygones and not let one loss dent their overall reputation. Being among the Super Bowl contenders, Packers have got to show resilience and move on as there is still a long way to go in the regular season.
Although many Packers’ players have expressed frustration and disappointment over the referee’s call, their coach Mike McCarthy, who was also infuriated on the game day, has urged everyone to move forward and keep their focus on the upcoming games. McCarthy
said:
“We need to stay focused. We're not going to get any help. I know this is going to be a story that everybody wants to continue to talk about, and frankly I'm not going to act like it's not there. This is a play that I'm sure we'll see on TV as we move on
in our lives.”
He added:
“The fact of the matter is we're about New Orleans. We're in tune with staying true to the integrity of the Green Bay Packers, how we conduct ourselves, being professional during a tough time, during a challenge."
Packers must forget their Week 3 game, but not their flaws. An alarming sign for them is that their quarterback Aaron Rodgers was sacked eight times in the first half of the game and for a player of Rodgers’ calibre such record is indeed discouraging.
He might be able to get his rhythm back because New Orleans Saints have been underperforming since the start of the season. They have not won any of their game and although they have managed to get scoring opportunities, Saints defence is unable to support
the offence.
Saints have lost against Washington Redskins, Carolina Panthers and Kansas City Chiefs and it will not be an overstatement to say that Saints are generally capable of defeating these three teams.
So, pressure will be on Saints, who must get their first victory of the season to keep their playoff hopes alive.
If Saints are unable to improve their defence, Packers might easily win this game despite the fact that they have won only one game so far in the season.
