Winning a medal at Olympic Games will not be easy, says Saina Nehwal – Badminton news
India’s ace player Saina Nehwal says that winning a medal at Olympic Games is never easy as all top shuttlers give their best in this event.
Saina, who is currently World Number Five, recently won a title at Swiss Open GP Gold and is looking forward to prove her worth at Olympic Games, which will be held at Wembley Indoor Arena in London, in July-August.
However, it is always challenging to win a title in Olympics which is the biggest tournaments in badminton world as all top shuttlers compete for glory in this prestigious event.
However the top Indian shuttler is determined this time to prove her mettle at Olympic Games as she is in good form at the moment.
At the same time, Saina is also aware of the Chinese shuttlers, who always remain at the top when it comes to win a title in a major tournament, and is confident to overcome them in the mega event.
Nevertheless, Saina played well in the Swiss Open and overpowered two Chinese shuttlers in her way to glory and is in better condition to repeat this performance in Olympics as well.
Saina said, "I really want to win a medal. But it is not easy as it is a long road ahead. Six-seven rounds for the medal. We will be working for that. But I am sure I will do well this time. It is always difficult with the Chinese I think for all the players.
This time I felt it was very easy. I beat them comfortably. It was because I went and played with a calm mind."
While talking about her plan for upcoming tournaments, Saina said she will play two tournaments as she wants to keep herself fit.
She said, "The tournaments are going to help me because I can compete against all the players. I will gain confidence. I can learn from my mistakes. We can make some changes."
Saina will participate in the India Open Super Series 2012, which will take place in New Delhi from April 24-29. She lost the first round last year but is determined to perform well this time.
