The defending Russian Premier League champions, Zenit St. Petersburg, have been drawn in the UEFA Europa League round-of-16 against Liverpool FC. The English Premier League club will visit Petrovsky stadium before hosting the Russian
outfit at Anfield in February.
The St. Petersburg club managed to secure an automatic qualification to the European competition after claiming 3rd spot on their respective UEFA Champions League’s group table.
Though Zenit managed to win the last group stage match against AC Milan at San Siro, they failed to progress to the next round in the Champions League after having a terrible start in the cup competition.
Zenit goalkeeper, Vyacheslav Malafeev, has backed his side to do well in the European tournament and assured the fans of an exciting and thrilling encounter when they host the Reds at home.
