Winnipeg Jets Captain Andrew Ladd returns to city to meet fans –NHL offseason Update
The last time Winnipeg Jets captain, Andrew Ladd, was in the city was looking for a house and signing a five-year contract extension with the newly Atlanta Thrashers relocated franchise. This time he is back and more thrilled than ever for starting the new
season, sooner than later if it was up to him.
This year’s summer offseason was especially important for Ladd who had a lot of things on his mind and to accomplish on his little time off. It included getting married, which was in Las Vegas, then heading out for the honeymoon in Bora Bora and finally
finding a home for him and his family to live in for next season.
“After the wedding it’s been nice to relax and get into a routine”, said Ladd. “You’re always working at a bunch of different things. In summer, when you’re on the ice you’re working at speed and getting faster, working on your shot and doing little things
around the net to try and just get your skill level up”.
It is not hard to tell that fans all around the hockey country of the world, Canada, is excited to get the new season rolling and especially to see Winnipeg Jets perform in a matchup.
“There’s buzz all over the country, not just in Winnipeg”, said Ladd, about their being hockey crazy people everywhere. “It’s a lot of fun and guys are just excited to get started”.
The former fourth overall draft pick during round-one of the 2004 National Hockey League (NHL) Entry Draft by Carolina Hurricanes, Andrew Ladd faced slow performing seasons with Carolina and shifted to Chicago Blackhawks as soon as his entry-level contract
expired, and gradually made an improvement.
Ladd joined Atlanta after the 2009-2010 season concluded and recorded record high numbers, 59 points (29 goals, 30 assists) while playing 81 games.
According to him, the enthusiasm he felt for the game when he first came to Winnipeg remains the same up until now, which has given him the motivation and confidence he needed. Now after making a big accomplishment in life, Andrew Ladd can focus more on
his career.
