Winnipeg Jets Dustin Byfuglien  wants to take new team to Playoffs -NHL Update
Veteran defenseman Dustin Byfuglien knows that he is missing something and according to the Winnipeg Jets defender, it seems to be the playoffs, something he has been unable to achieve since 2010, when he contributed to Chicago Blackhawks winning their first Stanley Cup championship in over 40 years.
The 27-year-old is without a doubt active in his offseason training and is looking to get back to the action with full force as soon as the lockout comes to an end, something the native of Minneapolis, Minnesota, hopes is sooner than later.
Being on the Winnipeg Jets is a whole new experience and being with a fresh team allows one to be a pioneer in order to take it to the top and right now, Byfuglien is certainly in that mindset to be that player, on the first squad that took the newly relocated Jets to their first postseason appearance.
Remembering his time with the Chicago Blackhawks really does get his emotions running and doing it again soon, this time with the Winnipeg Jets, is something the player is looking forward to without a doubt, according to the CalgarySun.com.
“It was great, an interesting ride, that’s for sure,” said Byfuglien. “It’s a grind. You’re sitting in June and you’re still playing. It was a long time, but once you get there and you hoist (the Stanley Cup), it’s something that you’ll always remember every part of it. The smiles on everyone’s faces, how excited everyone is. It’s something special and not everyone gets to do it.”
Moving from two cities in the matter of two years was not easy for the defenseman, but being  a hockey player demands it.
“It’s a business,” added Byfuglien. “You have to move on. You miss your friends and you miss the people back there, but it’s a job and you’ve got to go to work. It doesn’t matter where it is.”
Hopefully for Winnipeg fans that showed such excitement when they got their NHL team back, next season will be the one they have been looking forward to and are thrilled to be having a squad, determined to take them to the playoffs.
