Winnipeg Jets’ Toby Enstrom could return to native country after leaving Austrian team
Tobias Enstrom, a professional ice hockey player from Sweden, who plays for Winnipeg Jets in the National Hockey League (NHL), could be returning to his native country after leaving the Austrian team that he had signed for.
The 28 year old player had signed for Salzburg Red Bull after the lock out of the NHL and had planned to spend some time there but apparently performance of the player did not impress his new side much and the player was also not satisfied with his proceedings.
The decision might have been taken after a mutual consent but he has left the Austrian side for now.
All Enstrom managed in his five games with the Salzburg side was one point, which was a goal. He could not give any assist in his five game stint.
The Swedish player’s next destiny appears to be in his native country’s hockey league where he could be joining his brother in the second division. Toby’s brother, Thomas Enstrom plays for Orebro Vipers in the lower tier of the Swedish League.
According to some sources, Toby has already started practicing with the Swedish team and would be joining them very soon but the Swedish team’s website denied any such kind of reports. They mentioned that player could be right on his way to team and could
be joining them in some time.
The defenseman could be joining another NHL defenseman, Carl Gunnarsson, who plays for Toronto Maple Leafs in the NHL. This would be something for the joy of the team’s fans as two NHL blue liners may make their team’s defence very strong.
The Nordingrå, Sweden agent has been a very high scoring defenseman in recent times and had a great last season he went on to score 30+ points. He managed six goals and 27 assists for a total of 33 points in just 62 games. His overall record in NHL is also
very phenomenal as has got 32 goals and 172 assists for a total of 204 points in 380 games.
This is one of the main reasons that he earned a five year contract with a salary of $28.75 million, at an average of $5.75 million every year.
