Winnipeg Jets’ forward Olli Jokinen enjoying time with his family during the NHL lockout
Finland international ice hockey player Olli Jokinen, who is currently a player of Winnipeg Jets in the National Hockey League (NHL) is spending some time with his family during the NHL lockout.
The 33-year-old ice hockey professional, who would turn 34 in two months time, on 5th December, thinks that it would be very difficult for the regular season to begin again, with every moment passing. He thinks it would be a lockout for one whole
season like it was the last time around in 2004-2005 season. But he feels very disappointed and sorry for the fans of the game and asked them not to get their hopes to high. Jokinen also thinks it is a shame, as he said,
"Like I said a week ago, I think it's a shame if we miss any games and the season doesn't start on time. So we're probably going to have to look at it like we're going to have to miss the whole year. That's the mindset you have to have right now. If you
think otherwise, you maybe are keeping your hopes up for nothing”.
During the last lockout in 2004-2005 season, the Swedish forward himself had moved to his native country to play for the Sodertalje SK and keeping in view the previous experiences, he thinks it would be very difficult for the new season to begin because
the pre-season and first three weeks of the regular season have already been cancelled. Jokinen added,
"The longer you go, the harder it's going to be to get the deal done. That's the way it was last time and I don't see it any differently (now). Every lockout has been longer”.
Since being picked up in the 1997 NHL Draft by Los Angeles Kings, 3rd overall in the first round, Jokinen has spent most of his time in the NHL. In total he has played for seven different NHL teams, which are Los Angeles Kings, New York Islanders,
Florida Panthers, Phoenix Coyotes, New York Rangers, Calgary Flames and now Winnipeg Jets.
Jokinen has played over 1000 NHL games as he has scored 292 goals and 391 assists for a total of 683 points in 1042 NHL games.
