Winnipeg Jets officially introduce hockey operations department –NHL offseason Update
The newly relocated Atlanta Thrashers franchise, Winnipeg Jets, unveiled their new hockey operations department to the world on Thursday through a media release by the management which included a number of well know names and figures.
General Manager and executive vice-president, Kevin Cheveldayoff was the leading personality and was kept at the heading authority position of the department along with assistant general manager, senior vice-president and director of hockey operations, Craig
Heisinger.
Being a former assistant general manager of Chicago Blackhawks, with whom which he also saw a Stanley Cup championship in 2010, certainly knows how to establish a well rounded team.
"It's about hiring the right people", Cheveldayoff said. "This is a good group of people dedicated to the Winnipeg Jets and the vision we have for the Winnipeg Jets going forward".
Former well know Manitoba Moose staff member, Jimmy Roy, was appointed as Jets’ director of player development and was especially excited at reaching the National Hockey League (NHL) after a 15-year professional ice hockey career.
"For it to work out this way, it's a dream come true", Roy said.
No matter how his professional playing career went with Manitoba Moose, people have not failed to recognise his dedication.
"He played the game as hard as he could possibly play it", Cheveldayoff said of Roy.
Ryan Bowness, a renowned executive who also worked with the original Winnipeg Jets team was named manager of hockey operations and team services. Newly added onto the club, Bowness already has a vision for the team.
"We have the pieces in place that can make some noise", Bowness said. "We've got that young core that can hopefully grow up with this city. We brought some great people over from Atlanta".
Larry Simmons was also added to the clubs management in Winnipeg and will work as the club’s assistant to the general manager.  
In addition to the above mentioned personnel, there are also a number of various scouting team members and training staff for specialised help for players in various fields.
The entire hockey world has its eyes on Winnipeg for next season, which makes the situation even more exciting.
