Wins for Atlanta Dream, Seattle Strom and Tulsa Shock - WNBA Roundup 26th June
A total of three matches were played in WNBA on June 26th with Atlanta Dream defending their home court against Indiana Fever, Seattle Storm managing to record an away win over Washington Mystics and Tulsa Shock conjuring up an upset win over Los Angeles Sparks. Let`s round up the proceedings of the day.
1.       Atlanta Dream versus Indiana Fever
In the first matchup of the night, Angel McCoughtry, despite not being fully fit to play, managed to muster 22 points to lead Atlanta Dream to a 70-58 win over Indiana Fever and helping her team record back to back wins for the first time this season.
Sancho Lyttle shot the ball 7 of 19 from the field to record 17 points to go along with 8 rebounds and 3 assists in the game on Tuesday night. On the other hand, none of the Indiana players were able to cross the double figure mark and the highest any one could manage was 8 points by Tamika Catchings. Katie Douglas and Jessica Davenport also chipped in with 8 points each.
2.       Seattle Storm versus Washington Mystics
The second matchup of the night saw Seattle Storm go over to the Verizon Center and defeat Washington Mystics 79-71, recording their fifth win in as many games.
Sue Bird managed to lead the Seattle effort with 25 points by shooting the ball 9 of 14 from the floor and 2 of 3 from three point land. Ann Wauters chipped in with 14 points of her own to help Seattle beat the Mystics in back to back games.
Crystal Langhorne led Washington`s effort in the game by recording a double-double with 20 points 10 rebounds while Monique Currie and Natasha Lacy came off the bench to contribute 15 and 11 points respectively.
3.       Tulsa Shock versus Los Angeles Sparks
Led by a season high effort of 27 points from rookie Riquna Williams, Tulsa Shock recorded an upset 91-75 win over Los Angeles Sparks and got their second win of the season so far.
Ivory Latta provided the helping hand by chipping in 21 points while Temeka Johnson and Amber Holt managed to muster up 11 points each.
For the Sparks, Kristi Toliver put in her best effort to carry L.A by recording 21 points on an 8 of 16 shooting night while rookie sensation Nneka Ogwumike chipped in with 12 points and 7 rebounds. April Sykes came off the bench to add 11 points.
