Wins for Indiana Fever, Connecticut Sun, Los Angeles Spark and Atlanta Dream – WNBA Roundup 7th July
A total of four matches were played on Saturday July 7th in the WNBA with Indiana Fever just managing to edge out Chicago Sky and Connecticut Sun coming out with an away win over champions
Minnesota Lynx. Los Angeles Sparks eased past the Seattle Storm while Atlanta Dream defeated Phoenix Mercury.
1. Indiana Fever versus Chicago Sky
In the first matchup of the night Indiana Fever just managed to get past Chicago Sky in overtime with an 88-86 victory.
Tamika Catchings led Fever with 18 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. She was provided equal help from Jessica Davenport who managed to get 15 points while Shavonte Zellous chipped in with 14 points of her own.
On the other hand, Sylvia Fowles managed to put in a game high performance of 24 points while Eshaya Murphy managed to get 20 points.
2. Connecticut Sun versus Minnesota Lynx
Connecticut Sun used three players in double-double figures to defeat the reigning champions, Minnesota Lynx 86-80 sending them to their third consecutive defeat.
Kara Lawson recorded 22 points and 10 rebounds, Tina Charles managed 19 points and 15 rebounds whereas Asjha Jones chipped in with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
For the Lynx, Maya Moore managed to get 19 points to go along with 4 rebounds whereas Seimone Augustus notched up 14 points in the game.
3. Los Angeles Sparks versus Seattle Storm
With five of their starters managing to score in double-figures, Los Angeles Spark easily managed their way to an 83-59 victory over Seattle Storm.
Kristi Toliver led the way with 23 points while Candace Parker, Nneka Ogwumike and DeLisha Milton scored 17, 13 and 15 points respectively.
On the other end, Camille Little was the highest scorer for Seattle with 12 points whereas Shekinna Stricklen and Ewelina Kobryn managed to get 11 points each.
4. Atlanta Dream versus Phoenix Mercury
It took two extra periods and a career high 31 point effort from Sancho Lyttle for Atlanta Dream to get past Phoenix Mercury with a 100-93 win in the fourth and final match of Saturday night.
Tiffany Hayes also had a good game by managing 23 points while Aneika Henry chipped in with 12 points and 7 rebounds.
For the Mercury, DeWanna Bonner managed to get a team high of 27 points and Charde Houston played for 16 points in the ball game.
