I have an original oil painting of a ship at sea done by Winslow Homer in the early 1900's (I think). I have searched all over the internet to find out the name of this painting and how much it is worth. Here are the URLs to some pics I took of it......

Can anyone please help me identify this oil painting and how much it is worth? Or maybe someone can redirect me to a website that can help me find out this information?

Please & Thank You!

  1. This is certainly not a painting by Winslow Homer and not his signature as well.

  2. I have a painting that my mother gave to me as I am what she refers to as the 'artist' in the family. It looks much like the one in your pictures, but bigger, and is in oil and I believe to be original. Although I hadn't thought about Homer, it is signed Winslow. The only thing that comes up is Winslow Homer. Apparently it came into my mother's hands (in Maine) from an elderly woman who was throwing it out. Had been in her family and my mother couldn't bare to let her throw it in the trash. She asked if she could give it to me, as I loved to paint. The woman said absolutely, and it's been mine ever since. It hangs above my son's bed. :-) Id find it humorous if it was Homer.

  3. I have a similar painting.  Please email me at rharbour01@yahoo.com and I will email you the image of my painting which is very similar.
