Winter Memories to keep her good run going in the Grade 2 Woodford Reserve Lake Placid at Saratoga
The amazing 3-year-old filly, Winter Memories, is on a hot winning streak for trainer James Toner and looks to continue her stellar form in the Grade 2, $150,000 Woodford Reserve Lake Placid at Saratoga turf on 21 August, 2011.
The daughter of El Prado is hard to deal with in her current form right now, but she will be facing six 3-year-olds in the feature at Saratoga among the 8 probable runners who will take the field.
Winter Memories will go on to carry top weight of 122 pounds and under jockey Jose Lezcano, the filly is a 4 to 5 morning line favourite, breaking from post number four.
Despite her own good form, Winter Memories will be facing a contingent of in-form 3-year-old fillies, with the likes of the 3-year-old bay filly, Kathmanblu, who has gone to win two graded stakes races this year.
Then we have Hungry Island, who has also been in the winning circle for three consecutive times and she is bringing her good form in the Grade 2 Lake Placid.
Trac N Jam, with a similar story, is also going to rival Winter Memories in the 1 1/8 mile Saratoga race.
Winter Memories has been ruling on turf ever since she broke her maiden, but it’s recently that she has picked up the pace in her races and it began in the one mile long Grade 3 Appalachian at Keeneland on 21 April, 2011, and she clocked the distance in
1 minute and 37.27 seconds.
Her next start was converted into a win in the Grade 2 Sands Point, run over a distance of 1 1/16 miles at Belmont Park turf on 30 May, 2011, with the time of 1 minute and 42.61 seconds.
The Grade 2 Lake George Stakes was something special, where she showed a devastating turn of foot and romped past her foes from way behind in to the stretch to win by 4 ½ lengths under jockey Jose Lezcano.
So, that’s 3 in 3 for the fast filly, and it will not be a surprise if the streak stretches on to 4 at Saratoga.
