Winter Wonderland Wedding, uhm help?

Hey guys, so my boyfriend just proposed to me! well not right this second, about a couple days ago. Anyways, I've been going nuts planning!

We've decided to have the wedding in the winter of 2009 [December] in London, Ontario [Canada] We both love the winter, he's a hockey play and i'm a snowboarder.

I want to know your opinions about where I want to get photos taken. I have this really awesome idea [well i think so at-least] of having pictures of us taken, after the ceremony, at night in Victoria Park. It'll be all snowy and the best part is that the trees [really big ones lol] are covered in Christmas Lights [coloured].

What do you guys think of that idea? My mom doesn't really like it, she think it's too cheap. She's more of a perfect elegant rich wedding look. Where I, too want it perfect, but just laid back and what happens happens.

As far as dresses go... thats the only part thats really stressing me out. I know my photographer and videogrpaher [this moment forever, friends of mine] and caterer. Wedding ceremony and reception aren't going to be too hard.

I want a winter wedding but i DON'T want a faux fur dress. I know this might sound ridiculous, but I want stappless and then just like a shaul or a wrap thing for outside. but I'm not sure, any advice or anything?

thanks guys (:

ohh some of you have asked [who've been answering a couple of my questions] who my flowergirl and ring bearer are.Sterling's going to be our ring bearer [son] and our flower girl is going to be our daughter unless its a boy then we're having two ring bearers. [we're expecting again]

  1. Winter Wedding Are Beautiful.

I Think The Ice Looks Like Crystals.

I ADORE The 2nd Dress. That Would Look So Great. I Think A Nice Shawl Would Go Really Well.

    Congrats & Good Luck.

    =)

  2. I'm not really a fan of weddings, but if you are both fans of the cold you might want to consider the link below for your honeymoon.

I would suggest a great deal of ice sculpture for the wedding and white  snowbound motif.

A faux white wrap over a strapless would give that touch elegance your mom is looking for and maybe a carriage with white horses after the ceremony to ride you through the park or something like that?

    I don't know, I 'm a guy and like I said, not a big fan of weddings.

    Congratulations though and good luck.

  3. The place is beautiful. Don't worry about your mother's opinion, its your wedding. As far as the dresses, the second one is my favorite. If you want a cloak or shawl, I would go with a floor length cape, especially with dress number 2, but don't want faux fur, I suggest you get something custom made. The seamstress will help you with color, fabric, length, and embellishment options based on your wedding dress. She can also make it custom to keep you warmer around your arms, yet maybe have it flow better on the bottom.

    Good luck!

  4. I'm getting married in December too, and while it's not as cold in Ohio as it will be in Ontario, I'm wearing a strapless dress and I'm making a satin, hooded wrap (I'm not allowed to call it a cape anymore because my fiance says it reminds him of Superman : )). I think the place you've picked for pictures is beautiful and will look absolutely gorgeous in your pictures.

    Congratulations!

  5. the first dress is really not nice at all! it's just a little dated, those pick-ups make it look like a meringue ... not a good look. it's really not stylish

the second one though is really nice!

  6. well, im sure you could get a strapless dress  but maybe compromise with a faux fur, or thick velvet wrap- that way you don't freeze and you still get your ideal dress. Go with your original idea on the park front- it's your day and photos there will make it one to remember.

  7. As far as the place; Stunning!  I wish there was more places like that in America in the areas I live in.

I say go for it. Sounds like a great idea for both your personalities and likes.

Now for the dress.  I imagine you will get cold though and that can show up in your photos and be uncomfortable.

You don't like the cap faux over coats? ex: http://cgi.ebay.com/Custom-Winter-Weddin...

Those are beautiful to wear for outside pics when you get cold.

If I come across something that isn't those, I will let you know and see if you like to look further into it for your wedding.

When I was in the mountains and it being 20 degrees, a woman had her wedding pictures outside the cabin church. She had just a simple wrap and she about froze to death. They had to do the rest of the pictures in the cabin lodge next to fireplaces and all sorts (which was still beautiful).

So kinda hard to find something to keep you warm or altering the pictures to take away the redness from your skin and stiffness of your body from the cold air etc.
