  1. Gaawwwly Girl, Canada is a big place...it covers an area about as far south as the northern part of California and as far north as Yukon next door to Alaska covering areas West to east including Pacific Ocean, across the Rocky Mountains, Prairies, Hudson Bay, Labrador, Newfoundland on the Atlantic and along the St Lawrence River...where exactly are you planning to stay for the two weeks...It could make a difference of what to expect for winter climate.  If you are going to be in the Great Lake area...not to worry, just dress like you would if you were going to Upstate New York or upper Pennsylvania, or any part of Michigan.  If you are going west like Vancouver it will be a mild winter, however if you are planning on a mountain cabin in the rockies with skiing etc...dress warm as if you would in any mountain area.  Just take winter clothes and some medium warmth clothes.  It would help if you told us what exact area that you are planning on visiting.

  2. Where abouts in Northern Canada are you going?  You will need winter clothing...good winter jacket, snow pants, boots, mitts, toque, etc.

People's perception of Canada can be quite different, it often doesn't get as cold as what you may hear...we really don't live like the eskimos like some people think.

It would help to know how far north you are going and what type of activities you will be doing, and is the log cabin heated?

  3. Christa is right unless it is the high Artic you can expect things to vary and it say Northern Ontario it can be minus 10  to minus 30 celcius at night, and if it is a rental cabin and used in the winter it is insulated like a house in any other part of the country, her suggestions are correct, and you can warm up faster in the winter than cool down in the summer anyways, hot chocolate or bit of warm cider & alcohol.

You will not freeze or be eaten by a polar bear, unless your going to Churchill Manitoba there they have a few wandering around but nothing to worry about, enjoy your honeymoon it will be something to tell your children about or use to get something from your hubby when he says you never go anywhere, you can say will there was our honeymoon in the frozen confines of Canada.
