Winter jacket or winter snow suit for a 18 months old?

Hi, my daughter is 14 months now. By the time winter comes she'll be around 18 months. Should I get her a snow suit or will a winter jacket be just fine? We live in Toronto, Canada, it does get cold here. If we decide to go for a walk outside, I have a JJ Cole Bundle Me to use with her stroller. Do they really play in the snow at this age? Thanks a lot for your advices.

  1. unless you are keeping her in the snow for long periods of time then a snow suit is best. but just to keep her outside for a walk or so, a jacket will do best. but i always include hats and mittens. Oh you said Canada,..grab her a scarf too!

  2. Go for a 2 piece snowsuit. That way she can wear the snow pants on really cold days or to play in the snow and just the jacket at other times. It's also easier to change diapers if you just have to take off the snow pants, not a whole snowsuit.

  3. They do like to play in the snow.  If you want her to have time in the snow, then go for the snow suit.  If you're worried that she might eat it or whatever, just get the jacket and limit her time outside of the stroller in the snow.

Or, if you want her to play in the snow but dont want her to play outside, too cold or whatever, bring some snow inside and let her play with it in a water table.  Over a tile floor, of course.

  4. I would do both that's what I do with my daughter she is 3 and we live in New England. she wears a snow suit if she is going to play in the snow and a winter jacket if we are just going out and getting in the car. don't forget hat gloves and a scarf.

  5. get her both bcuz sum days will b colder than others

  6. Well my daughter was about 18 months old last winter and I bought her a Columbia Winter set with a jacket and snowpants. This was great, if she was going to play in the snow, which my daughter loved to do, we could just put her snowpants on, otherwise we just ised the jacket.

  7. my daughter is 15 months now and i bought her a winter coat with gloves and hat to go under the coat hood. i have seen snow suits and they are just a pain to put on and take off and make it really difficult for the children to walk in. if you get some leggings, tights or a long body suit for her to wear under jeans or fleece pants and a pair of winter boots to go over she should be fine. at this age i cant imagine that a child would want to stay out for any longer than an hour at a time if that. if you find the time to put the snow suit on and off a couple times a day then go for it but its much more practical to use a coat

  8. Since you live in Canada i suggest a Snow suit. They help keep the child warm and the snow out of their clothes. But if you are just going out to someone's house or out to dinner then just a winter jacket. So mainly on what you do or where you go depend on the jacket. at 18 months kids like to explore most likely she will want to go in the snow. Hope i helped good luck

  9. snow suit. my son loves the snow!

and he preferred to walk, rather than sit in the stroller.

get her some good boots and a nice warm hat too.

  10. A winter jacket if you don't want her playing in the snow or a snow suit if you do. The choice is yours.
