I am buying a new rug for my horse this winter and like the look of this one:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/COMBO-NECK-COVER-OUTDOOR-RUG-HEAVYWEIGHT-TURNOUT-6-0_W0QQitemZ370068774360QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item370068774360&_trkparms=72%3A1089%7C39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

The brand is 'Gallop' and I wondering if anybody has had experience with these rugs?

Any help appriciated, thanks :)

  1. I've heard there pretty good but quite expensive for a pretty un known make I'd check out Robinson's and derby house they do their own make stuff which is pretty good or go to a tack shop at least it's straight forward to return it if you don't like it, I bought a heavyweight combo off derby house for £40 and it was water tight and lasted really well and didn't rip or anything and my boy was all warm and snug all winter! I went to Badminton this year and picked up a heavy weight Masta Check Teck heave weight combo for £50. if you shop around there are loads of bargains to be had. Good luck

  2. i actually sell gallop products as i own a tackshop and we are getting these in. i  sell all other gallop products and have never come across a problem i came across these at a tradeshow and they looked good. my sales lady is getting them for hers!!

  3. sorry, never heard of the make.  personally i would buy from a tack shop or website that does all horse rugs and lots of other items as well. you would also get a guarantee should anything go wrong.

    www.hyperdrug.com

    www.robinsons-uk.com

i have bought mail order from both the above and are really good.

not sure i've typed the www's correctly, but will connect with trying the main word.  rugs are measured from the middle of the chest to a line with their tail.

    happy shopping.

  4. No, poster above me, it's not $62 it's in British pounds, I'm assuming. From my conversion calculator it's roughly around 115 us dollars.

But it looks good to me. It looks like the seller is good, and people like her. Reliable and such. I'd email her and ask her the condition of the blanket.

Or you can go check your local tack shop to see if they have any there. You want it to be able to hold up. Don't just go off of looks.

  5. No sorry!

But I bought a rug from ebay and it didn't fit so I had to resell it as i couldn't take it back.

I love this rug and it's price is great for the quality!

My big cousin has stables and most of her horses have these turnout rugs.

the high neck is good and so is the combo she has it in silver and black.

  6. nice rug

    BUTTTTT

you can get a cheaper rug with the exact same stuff on it and same quality for less especially on ebay.

    have a better look!!!!

i buy my turnout rugs for only $50-$70 Australian which is only about 100 dollars where you live

  7. Sorry I've never had experience with that particular rug make, but I've used a lot of rugs over the years. The only way you know if a rug fits well, is durable and keeps it's waterproofing is by using it. In my experience unknown brands are not worth it, I was once given a similarly unknown rug which lost all it's waterproofing scarily quickly. I always use brands that I know will last and save me the money of having to buy another. The best for turnout rugs are FalPro, Weatherbeeta and Horseware; if you look you can often find these marked down on discount websites or ebay.

Remember, you get what you pay for!

  8. Just compare and buy what you like.

  9. That looks and sounds like a very nice rug. It's very similar to one I bought for my horse.

  10. After looking at that I have to get one! Is that really $62. dollars? It looks great to me.

I think as long as we take measurements and the Blanket or rug is comfortable on your Horse. He will be a very happy Horse this Winter!

But you sold me a Gallop! At my local feed store, they want over $100.00 for a rug or Blanket. But I'm going to also order a Gallop!
