I know I might be crazy asking this as early as it is. I was wondering if any of you might have a clue was to what Indiana is in store for this winter. So far this past month (June) as been very wet and mild. Unusually mild that is. And look toward first week in July- it is mild too (70's) normally we'd have high 80's, to early 90's.

So are we in store for bitterly cold and snowy conditions or what? Reason for my question so early is because I want to plan my kids wardrobe early while there are sales. Thanks for the replies.

  1. it will be warm imo, here in Cincinnati and a lot of the Midwest we have been getting storm after storm after storm, this behavior is usually associated with the spring, i think there will be a slight season change, summer will reach out to late October early November then we will see fall temperatures ranging from Dec - ?, this is what i believe no one bash my opinion.

  2. No. Predictions that far ahead are no better than chance, and a mild summer does not necessarily mean a cold winter to follow. There is no such correlation. The only thing that might vaguely play a role is the ENSO phase (El Nino or La Nina) in the fall and winter, and that is still capable of going in any direction.

  3. That's a long time away to get a good idea. But this link will show you what they're predicting all the way up until September 2009, but it might change:

  4. you can try but you cant predict too far.  i live in northern wiscosnin, we get 40 below temps every year and 12 feet of snow roughly, it doesnt change much, does it in indiana?  buy warm clothes, have them wear clothes from last year, perpare for the worst.  have jackets, i dont know how could it gets down there, long sleeved shirts and t-shirts.  how old are your kids?  if they are young, you should have warm clothes, especially, and i anything if its a mildly warm winter, they can wear there summer clothes i guess.  and temps in the summer might reflect whats to come, but i doubt it.  these are current weather patterns, we are recieve cold air sometimes from canada or mild air from the south,it all depends. the current weather patterns are also to blame for the wettness
