Nigel Winterburn has gone on to claim that Arsenal need to start spending more cash in the summers, if they are to stand any chance of changing http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robin-van-Persie-c31380’s mind.
The Gunners captain went on to reveal that he wasn’t going to extend his stay at the club and this news went on to shock almost every Arsenal fan.
At the moment, Manchester City are reported to be the favourites to land the striker, but so far a transfer has not yet been confirmed for the player.
Winterburn feels that Arsenal can still get Van Persie to stick around, should they go on and invest in more players.
"Arsenal have bought a couple of players and you can only hope they continue to strengthen throughout the summer," Winterburn said.

"Somehow that might persuade Van Persie this is the right club and that they've started to move in a different direction from the past five or six years.”

"Arsenal should not be a selling club. Forget about the board.”

"The most important thing is the manager and players and that the players go into each season believing they've got a chance of winning something.”

"The precedent was set last year losing Fabregas and Nasri and now it looks like Van Persie may go, and that starts to put doubt into players' minds."
Arsenal have already gone on to secure the services of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lukas-Podolski-c22896 and Olivier Giroud. However, Winterburn thinks that the team still needs to go on and bring in more quality players to the club.
He insists that the team is still not on the same level as Manchester City, in terms of landing players, but feels that they need to change this aspect of the team.
The Gunners haven’t won a trophy in the last seven years and that is rather disgraceful for any top club.
Nonetheless, for the time being Van Persie is still an http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 player and has another year left on his contract.
However, should the team go on and bring in more players and have an impressive season, the striker could end up sticking around at the club.
