Winterize Volvo Penta 5.0 GXi boat engine?

Question

Does anyone have the details for winterizing a Volvo Penta 5.0 GXi boat engine? I have the Volvo Penta Operator's Manual, but it just states to take the boat to a dealer for winterization. I'd like to do this myself, if not too difficult.

BTW - I keep my boat on a lift, so not sure if this come into play with winterinzing. Thanks, All!

Check with some automotive or boat supply houses, they may have manuels on winterizing your boat. You can also purchase tapes on winterization. When all else fails go to your dealer and he should be able to help you.

dont forget your freeze plugs need to be taken out and let the water drain, i bought a brand new glasstron 219 in 2005 and the dealer dint mention anything about winterizing and my motor froze and cracked the block a enw motor was 6500. i live in califorina and think it would freeze ,but it did so i hope tis will help you
