i live in michigan and am storing a I/O 26 ft rinker in an unheated pole barn. The water is completly drained from the boat. My question is, do i really have to have a professional winterize it? Are their some things i can do myself?

  1. No, if you are sure you have it drained then why pay someone to do what you have already done

  2. You can do it yourself. You should run nontoxic anti freeze thru the engine and water systems to prevent freeze damage. Even though you say you have drained it there are most likely pockets of water left in the system. By running the a/f thru you get rid of those pockets and if anything just have the af there. The a/f also helps protect the seals in the pumps and engine. Make sure you remove the batteries and store in a cool dry spot, not on bare concrete and keep the water level in the batts up and charge them once in awhile.

  3. I think you can find these http://www.boatcouncil.com/winterizing-b... winterezing tips helpful.

    Good Luck!

  4. You can do it yourself and if you follow the below instructions it will be professionally done.

I do mine every season end, and never have any problems next season.
