Question:

Winterizing perennials? Mums/Roses?

I've had good luck in the last year with my bush roses coming back after a Wyoming winter. I mulched around the bases, but did not cover them. I just planted some mums as well, do these need any special winterizing? And what would help the roses without big cones all winter. I live in town and I'm afraid kids would kick at them.

  1. Mums are tough and over winter very well.I start using my lawn mower bag in late september and use the leaves and grass clippings to protect the roses.Just remove them in the spring.
