Question:

Winterwhite hamsters not being friendly anymore!!?

I got two female 6 week old winter white dwarf hamsters from a pet store two weeks back (one white and one grey). They were in the same cage and very friendly with each other. A friend of mine saw them and told that one is male and asked me to separate them to prevent mating. I instantly separated them until I could take them to a vet. A week after their separation, I took them to a vet who said that both were females only and can be together in the same cage.

However the problem is that now they refuse to stick together. I put them together in the same cage but had to separate them within 10 minutes since they fought a lot. The whoite one's eye was injured and swollen for two days due to the fight. Is this normal? Can they stay together again? How do I make them stay together again? I badly want some advice since I do not want them to be alone in different cages. Please help.

  1. dwarf hamsters are stubborn. they will continue to hurt each other, sorry, its the truth. take the injured one to the vet.

  2. Since they were separated and stayed separated for so long then chances are they won't make that connection again.  I'm sorry.
