Wireless Connection to Netgear Cable Router WGR614

I had wireless connection to my Netgear Router, unfortunately I deleted the connection and had to set up the connection again. I ran the Disc and connected my Laptop using the wired Ethernet Cable, but when I try to connect a wireless connection from my laptop to the router half about half way through the set up I am asked to enter a password for a previous Netgear Router. I no longer have my old router and I do not know the password, the old router was connected via a BT line and now I have Cable Router. When I try to enter a password after a few trys it says I am not authorised. I have re-set the password details in my present router but I still have the same problem.

How can I overcome this problem.

  1. There is a preshare key password for wireless configuration which is not  the router access password used to get into the router config page.

Go into your router configurations, then to the wireless configuration, and change the preshare key to one you remember; record it; use it in the config of the wireless interface of the pc.
